Death Battle Prediction: Usopp Vs Sokka

In many stories of grand adventures and discover in the set of the main band of adventures is a weaker, less skilled, more "Quirky" character, Jar Jar Binks from Star Wars, Snarf from Thundercats, Happy from Fairy Tail, and Batman from Snyder's Justice Leauge, these are comic relief characters. However, what happens when a comic relief character chooses to pull their own weight to fight alongside and sometimes surpasses their peers? You get warriors like Usopp, The Sniper of the Straw Hat Pirates, and Sokka The Idea Guy of the Avatar Gaang.

History

Usopp

Usopp | All Worlds Alliance Wiki | Fandom

In a small island in the East Blue in the village of Syrup Town, a young man resides a young man with a long nose terrified of his own shadow and a pension for lying and telling tall tales of himself, you may be surprised to hear that this man had become one of the world most wanted criminals, a legendary sniper hero, and is known to giants, dwarves, and pirates across the sea simply as GOD. This is the story of Usopp.

Two years after the death of Gol D Roger a new age of pirates was quickly ushered in, which lead to many pirates ready to set sail for adventure and make a name for themselves, such as the former apprentice of Roger "Red-Haired" Shanks, young Shanks quickly set out to find himself a crew, one of the first members would be Yasop "The Chaser". Originally Yasop planned to stay with his wife and son Usopp, but his wife Banchina, encouraged him to follow his dream of being a pirate and so Yasop set off to fulfill his dream while becoming a great warrior of the sea.

Unfortunately for young Usopp his mother soon became ill, every day he would tell the same lie, that his father had returned to take them away, hoping it would keep her hopes high and help her to recover. However, she knew he would never return and before her death, she told Usopp that she was glad he had gone out to sea. As years went by Usopp continued to grow up in the same small town practicing his marksmanship, telling tall tales, and befriending Kaya the daughter of a wealthy family.

However, Usopp had become spurious of Kaya's butler Klahadore who in reality was the Captain of the Black Cat Pirates, Kuro who conspired to kill Kaya. Originally Usopp had no hope of defeating Kuro and his crew but luckily for him, a certain rubber Straw Hat pirate arrived on the island this is Monkey D. Luffy, Luffy a former friend of Yasopp instantly recognized Usopp from the many stories his father and gladly helped him, with Luffy, Zoro, and Nami they managed to defeat Kuro and foil his plan to kill Kaya.

Usopp no longer wishing to play pretend about being a pirate quickly joined Luffy and his crew becoming the Straw Hat's official Sniper, they went on many adventures together and during one of their adventures Usopp encountered two giants Dorry and Broggy two fierce warriors who inspired Usopp to take up his own dream like the rest of the Straw Hats, to become a great warrior of the sea.

After many adventures, battles, and heartbreak, Usopp now journeys along in one of the fiercest pirate crews in the New World where the small sniper with the heart of a giant had made quite the name for himself as a legendary warrior.

"No. This is my fight. Alone."
Earth, Fire, Water, Air, these are the four elements which some individuals in the world can Bend and control themselves, but there were some who were not blessed with this ability non-Benders, ordinary people, despite this many non-benders could hold their own alongside their bender brethren, Mai and Ty Lee, the Equalist, Piandao, Sokka.

Born to the son of the chief of the Water Southern Tribe, Sokka had always admired his father's dedication and spirit, wishing to become a warrior much like, however, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked, Sokka's and his younger sister Katara's mother was killed during a Fire Nation Raid while his father and the rest of the men in his Tribe left to go fight the Fire Nation. Sokka would try to grow up quickly, wanting to look over his village considered himself the village sole protector and was ready to defend it at any cost.

However, his life quickly changed when he and his sister discovered a young tattoed boy trapped in an iceberg, the bender who would bring balance to the four nations, the Last Airbender, Avatar Aang. Togher with Aang, Katara, Toph, and their former enemy Zuko Sokka would help bring peace to the Four Nations.

While much of Sokka's elder life is unknown, he is remembered for his ingenuity, tactical mind, and his impact in Republic City.

Powers/Abilities

Ussop

Marksmanship

Animated GIF

Ever since Usopp was young he has always had proficiency with marksmanship always managing to hit his targets dead center, his feats of marksmanship only grew after joining the Straw Hats as their resident sniper, and despite not using an actual sniper rifle like his father or Van Auger he has shown to have just as impeccable aim.

With his unique ammunition or sometimes just people, he can hit his targets at a short distance, if they're hundreds of feet away, hit thin branches of bamboohit held items, shoot inside peoples mouths, and has even hit his targets from so far away that the Marines firearms couldn't even reach that far. (In comparison the real-life record for longest successful sniper shot was from a Candian Special Opts at three and a half KM Usopp's accuracy is not only farther but he is able to pull off more shot in a quicker succession)

Usopp is also often the one to operate the ship's cannons with just as much skill.

Lying Ability/Cowardice/Strategist

God Usopp ! His lies become reality on Make a GIF

Usopp is a lying coward who even after spending two years training on an island this as well as the fact that Usopp is hopelessly outmatched by nearly every pirate out there, he'd surely be a dead man by now right?

That is where you'd be wrong, not only does Usopp lies have an odd habit of coming true, his history of trickery have coincided with his ability for trickery, in terms of simply fooling his opponents, he'd tricked his enemies into thinking he was dead, can quickly get people on his side, is a talented businessman, and can convince people (as well as himself) that he is a great warrior or even God.

Usopp may be a coward but remember, Usopp is in the world of One Piece, a world full of every kind of monster, Usopp's cowardice is needed for him to survive, Ussop is often very cautious in a fight and knows when he's outmatched (Which is all the time) knowing when to run away, when to play dead or when to hide.

Usopp is an incredibly talented and analytical strategist as well, both with and without prep time and many of his attacks may seem like jokes or minor annoyance at first when in reality it was used to set-up a trap such as throwing then shattering a bottle of rum at Chew so he was drenched in alcohol so Usopp could light him on fire later, or when he threw rotten eggs against Luffy so he wouldn't be able to smell the gas released around him. He is very talented in manipulating the environment for his advantage, crafting and creating pragmatic solutions, setting up and breaking out of many traps.

Negativity

Aoi Reads One Piece — I have to applaud Usopp for pretending to ...

To say Usopp is a bit of a negative nancy would be an understatement, he constantly puts himself down during the Straw Hat adventures and often berates himself about being weak and useless, constantly thinking he's going to die.

In fact, Usopp is so negative minded about himself that the Negative Ghosts produced from Devil Fruit which is specifically designed to make people that they go through becoming so negative that they lose all hope and want to kill themselves are not only unable to affect Usopp but they themselves become negative.

Kenbunshoku Haki

Usopp possesses the ability to manipulate his Haki, Haki is a mysterious power that is found in every living being in the world. It is not that different from the typical senses. However, most people do not notice it or fail to awaken it. Broadly speaking, there are two types of Haki available to everyone, given the proper training, but there is a third type that only a certain group of "chosen ones" are said to possess.

Usopp was able to awaken Kenbunshoku Haki or Observation Haki a form of Haki that allows the user to sense the presence of others, even if they are concealed from view or too far to see naturally.

More useful the user can also use this Haki to predict an opponent's moves shortly before they make them, thereby making the attack much easier to evade with enough skill. This prediction appears to the user as an image or brief "premonition" of what the opponent will do in the user's mind's eye, and the damage the user will take if the attack actually "hits", as a bonus it may also let the user sense someone's level of strength and even their emotions (Though very skilled actors like Pudding can fool it).

Usopp has awakened his Kenbunshoku Haki during the latter half of the Dressrosa revolt, as he was able to see auras of Luffy, Law, and Sugar, who were in the royal palace, from the old King's Plateau near the Corrida Colosseum. With this, he was able to pinpoint Sugar's location and snipe her down from such a distance.

Sokka

Strategy/Imprsovison

Sokka GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY

Over the course of the series, Sokka's greatest contribution was not any form of fighting or a weapon rather it was ingenuity as well as his planning which got him by.

Being dubbed the "Idea Guy" by the rest of the Gang Sokka is usually the one to come up with a plan, he was the one who came up the plan to invade the Fire Nation during the Black Sun after he discovered how to find out when the next eclipse was, as well as creating a new glue-based weapon to turn the invading soldiers immobile, and tricking Fire Nation guards into thinking the citizens were diseased by using the marks left behind by an octopus.

During his brief fight with Piandao Sokka learned how to use the environment to his advantage, blinding him with dirt and cutting bamboo to obscure his vision.

Swordbending

CaV: Sokka (GothamCiti) vs Captain Canuck (joewell) - [FINISHED ...

While in the Fire Nation Sokka spent some time training under the swordmaster and member of the White Lotus Piandao, while originally a novice with a sword Sokka quickly became a talented swordsman in his own right, able to go up and defeat sparring partners and non-Bender Fire Nation soldiers, and while he could not defeat them he did manage to hold his own against more skilled and experienced swordsman like Zuko and Piandao for some time.

Unarmed Combat

While Sokka prefers to fight with weapons, he can fight hand to hand, he received some brief training with Suki of the Kyoshi Warriors, and while not as skilled as her or Ty Lee he has managed to trip her up once, the Kyoshi fighting style Sokka learned is very similar to Judo revolving around redirections and throws.

Weapons/Equipment

Usopp

Ginga Pachinko

Ginga Pachinko - ONE PIECE - Zerochan Anime Image Board

Usopp's original weapon he started out with, while it is considered a child's toy, the slingshot in Usopp's hands can prove just as deadly as common firearms. As a matter of fact, it is the deceptive nature of the slingshot that often gives Usopp an advantage over opponents who do not think otherwise of him.

A.K.A the weapon of a liar.

While Usopp can use a variety of ammo consisting of whatever really fits in it, Usopp mainly uses Boishi or Stars as his main ammunition, little lead pellets with various effects which he'll shout, though on occasion he shouted another attack to fool an opponent.

Ammunition:

Lead Star: Usopp fires a small lead ball bearing or pachinko ball from his slingshot, this is Usopp's most basic and weakest attack usually only used on grunts though it is strong enough to knock a fully grown man back several feet.

Gunpowder Star: Usopp fires a highly explosive pellet filled with gunpowder which apparently tastes awful while the explosion was originally small he later upgraded it to create a much bigger explosion he may also fire three of these at once in the Triple Exploding Star.

Egg Star: Usopp fires a rotten egg at an opponent to blind or distract them, the smell is so bad that it can temporarily disable someone's senses of smell.

Smoke Star: A smoke bomb used to blind and confuse opponents for Usopp to attack or to run away.

Flame Star: A pellet that quickly explodes into flames while deadly on its own it can become much deadlier when combined with a flammable substance like alcohol or gas.

Deluxe Tabasco Star: A pellet containing Tabasco sauce either at the target's eyes or mouth, it's so hot that it apparently lights a fire within someone.

Red Snake Flare: A pellet that produces a large smokey flare to alert his crewmates.

Shuriken Meteoric Swarm: Dozens of Shurkien chained together that when fired separate into a large spread of shuriken to cover a wider radius

Exploding Cactus Ball: A green ball that explodes launching hundred of quills.

Kabuto

Usopp's Arsenal | One Piece Wiki | Fandom

During Usopp's brief time as Sogeking, Usopp upgraded his standard slingshot the Kabuto, a much larger slingshot powered by dials, which gives Usopp greater ranger, better accuracy, faster attacks and more power with his shots, also while not a close quarters master he can use it similar to a bo staff to strike or to defend from attacks like sword. He may use all of his previous ammunition as well as several new ones including such as.

Fire Bird Star: A much more powerful version of the Flame Star which completely engulfs a person in flames, it is capable of knocking out Marine Captains and can singe Oars an ancient giant much bigger than any modern giant.

Sun Flower Star: Five Gunpowder Stars fired simultaneously in a flower-like pattern.

Super Smoke Star: What's better than a Smoke Star a Super Smoke Star of course! The smokescreen produced is much larger able to cover a whole town.

Six Chamber Pit-Viper Star: Six pellets linked together when fired.

Atlas Comet: A variation of Gunpowder Star, this fires off four stars that hit an area in a cross-shaped pattern which is powerful enough to destroy stone walls and stagger Pacifista's.

Sticky Star: A pellet that creates a sticky glue-like substance to trap people in.

Cockroach Stars: A star that releases toy cockroaches to fool an opponent into thinking they are covered in actually cockroaches.

Oil Star: A star that releases slippery and flammable oils capable of covering giants.

Kuro Kabuto

Kuro Kabuto | One Piece Wiki | Fandom

No, not that Kuro Kabuto.

A smaller more compact and powerful version Usopp developed during his training in the two-year time skip, while it can use its old ammo its most powerful attacks are Pop Greens, plant life found on the Boin Archipelago which undergoes sudden and aggressive growth-spurts, which allow Usopp to fire small seeds that sprout into fully grown plants en route to his targets.

The Kuro Kabuto itself can also transform a stronger form called Grow Up Kuro Kabuto upon contact with water due to the Chomping Grass that lives inside it. In this form, the slingshot extends and the actual sling, while getting bigger, also takes on the appearance of the aforementioned carnivorous plant life form, allowing it to consume large amounts of rubble around it. In the process, it grows to a large size and can use the rubble as ammunition to attack its opponents. It can even become larger in its Super Grow Up form shooting even farther.

Pop Green Attacks:

Devil: Usopp fires a large Venus Flytrap which attacks his enemies. In addition to being able to eat enemies with its large mouth, it can ensnare those nearby with its vines.

Sargasso: A Pop Green that explodes into an array of resilient seaweed, strong enough to delay an avalanche of rock and earth.

Rafflesia: A Green Star that reveals a large Rafflesia which much like it's real-world counterpart has a tremendously awful smell used to disorient opponents.

Bamboo Javelin-Grove: Usopp shoots a Pop Green and stalks of bamboo shoots up from the ground, stabbing and impaling anyone it crosses paths with.

Skull Exploding Grass: A Pop Green that explodes on impacts releasing a large red dust cloud resembling a skull.

Humandrake: Pop Green that only triggers to attack when someone steps on them, the living roots it leaps off to the opponent causing them to fall off balance while attacking them.

Trampolia: A Pop Green that launches anyone who gets on it into the air, he can use this to travel or to set up attacks.

Impact Wolf: A Pop Green that when shot sprouts into grass that takes the shape of a wolf. The bulb where it came from that shaped like a wolf's nose can release a stunningly powerful shockwave that is three meters in diameter, which can shock an opponent.

Boaty Banana: A Pop Green which transforms into a banana-shaped boat used to traverse the water, it was tough enough to survive the boiling water of Punk Hazard.

Fan Grass: Pop Greens which becomes oars for the Banna Boat.

Sleep Star: A new kind of Star that puts whoever it hits to sleep, though the more often it's used the less effective it becomes.

Platanus Shuriken: A Pop Green that forms into several large leaf shurikens capable of cutting through Trebol and catch Luffy.

Sleeping Grass: A Pop Green that sprouts a flower which releases a gas capable of putting anyone to sleep.

Usopp Hammers

Usopp Usopp Hammer | One Piece Treasure Cruise Wiki | Fandom

On the rare occasions where Usopp is a little too close for comfort, he has a series of hammers for close combat or for intimidation.

Usopp Hammer: A ordinary work hammer which Usopp swings as a weapon, while not extremely powerful it gets the job done the more times he uses it, even against the Fishman Chew, a standard Fishman on land in ten times stronger than an average human.

Usopp Pound: Usopp uses a massive and intimidating "5-Ton Hammer" to strike a target. It is a potent psychological weapon, as Mr. 4 was so convinced by Usopp's description of it that he went down after one blow. However, he recovered almost immediately when Lassoo destroyed it and revealed that it was just two frying pans and a metal sheet covered with paper and a stick with a total weight of 2 kg combined that Usopp had hurriedly put together a moment before.

Usopp Golden Pound: A technique in which Usopp uses a "10-Ton Hammer". The hammer is almost identical to the five-ton hammer in appearance, but it is much larger. While the hammer looks intimidating, it is actually a giant balloon on a stick. This was first seen being used against Perona. Terrified by Usopp's sudden burst of strength and abilities, Perona instantly fainted the moment Usopp was about to smash her with this hammer. Though the balloon popped upon impact, the shock was too much for Perona.

Dials

Dials | One Piece Wiki | Fandom

Dials are strange, mysterious devices made from the remains of particular shellfish, which have the ability to store energy and matter. During the crew's time in Skypiea, Usopp received a collection of Dials by trading with novelties such as rubber bands and other items the natives of Skypiea had never seen before.

Tone Dial: A Dial used for the storage of sounds, it was used to prank Zoro while the Straw Hats were on Skypiea.

Breath Dial: A Dial that is normally used to store air or gas. Usopp used it to store up flammable gas that is released onto the battlefield for Usopp to ignite with his Flame Star.

Flash Dial: A Dial that releases a massive flash of lighting blinding opponents.

Impact Dial: A Dial that absorbs any blows directed to it and can release them back at the attacker. Usopp can thus use this to absorb a powerful blow such as Luffy's Gomu Gomu no Bazooka and release it back at the original source or any other opponent, it acts as a shockwave attack and is able to damage an opponent's insides even. However, it's somewhat of a double-edged sword as the recoil from the released energy is nearly akin to the original blow. Though Usopp has gotten tougher and can use it a few times without terrible risk. In Thriller Bark he's shown to carry a few already stored with energy beforehand. He may also use these to simply diffuse an attack such as an Exploding Ghost.

Snipper Goggles

Usopp's Arsenal | One Piece Wiki | Fandom

Usopp has a pair of goggles on hand to assist with his aim, they block out glare as well as wind while apparently increasing his vision.

Sogeking Mask

After a quarrel with Luffy about the Going Merry Usopp left the crew, but after discovering the danger his friends were in he dawned a homemade mask to aid them in the battle against CP-9, he was not Usopp, but a man from the land of the snipers, the king of snipers Sogeking (With his own Sentai style theme song too).

Dawning this mask Usopp (For the most part) is much braver and is able to think clearer fighting at his full potential.

Other Equipment

Usopp - ONE PIECE - Image #881621 - Zerochan Anime Image Board

Usopp carries plenty of tricks and other tools in his bag for combat, from simple toys to his own inventions he created.

Ketchup: Simple ketchup which Usopp can use to fake an injury or his own death.

Rum: Usopp throws a bottle of rum which he quickly hits with a lead star soaking them in alcohol, while this seemingly only used to annoy someone at first he can hit them with his flame star engulfing them in fire.

Rubberband: A simple rubberband Usopp has, he can stretch it back while yelling "Rubberband of Doom" which instantly makes someone flinch, Usopp uses this opportunity to run.

Chalkboard: Usopp brings out a chalkboard that while he covers his ears as he drags his nails across it creating an excruciating painful noise.

Grappling Belt: A belt used in Skypiea which shoots a massive rope used to traverse the areas though Usopp can get stuck doing so.

Octoshoes: Suction shoes in the form of octopi that Usopp uses to climb vertical walls.

Caltrop Hell: Caltrops which Usopp scatters along the battlefield to set up a trap or to stop people from advancing.

Salt: Clumps of salt Usopp can fire from his slingshot, this was used to purify the zombies.

Blaze Ball: A small red ball that bursts into flames.

Oil: Usopp caries oil on hand to expand his flames.

Stag Bettle: An elastic sling Usopp can use to launch large objects or even people.

Disguise: Like the rest of the crew Usopp has occasionally dawned a disguise to hide from Marines, pirates, or bounty hunters.

Toad Oil: In his time in Wano Usopp got by as a toad oil salesman, he carries and uses toad oil which can seal up cuts and heal minor wounds.

Pistols: Usopp has occasionally brandished flintlock pistols on occasion somewhat similar to the ones his father once used, while they likely don't have any special properties like his Stars they are still rather deadly because... well there guns.

Bazokoos: Yep. Usopp had once used a bazooka in Gold Lion to help save Nami, bazooka's in One Piece usually fire cannonballs which explode on impact, while not as diverse as his slingshot it does heavy amounts of damage.

Seastone Cuffs: Cuffs composed of seastone which is a very rare and natural material which quickly drains most Devil Fruit uses of all energy quickly weakening them, they are also extremely durable as so far the only ones able to break them have been Yonko like Whitebeard and Kaido, two of the strongest creatures in the world who are capable of global destruction.

Sokka

Space Sword

Sokka's sword | Avatar Wiki | Fandom

While in the Fire Nation Sokka spent some time training under the swordmaster and member of the White Lotus Piandao, at the end of his training Sokka was encouraged to craft a sword himself, but instead of using material on hand, Sokka used the remains of a formerly fallen meteorite. It is a straight Jian sword that thanks to its unique makeup is able to cut through both stone and metal with ease.

Though Sokka lost this during the Fire Nation invasion.

Boomerang

Sokka's weapons | Avatar Wiki | Fandom

Sokka's most iconic weapons is his trusty boomerang, with it he may use it as a close-range club or blade but its most useful ability is its ability to return to Sokka when thrown often surprising an enemy from behind, this also allows for Sokka to hit opponents from an angle they aren't expecting from like when he hit the Combustion Man.

Watertribe Wolf Armor

The Lost Lore of Avatar Aang — Character: Sokka Water Tribe Wolf ...

Standard armor used for soldiers in the Southern Water Tribe, although the design of the armor varies slightly between individuals of different ranks, it is largely uniform, providing an aesthetic sense of unity during combat. In addition to providing protection, the design of the armor is meant to incite fear in the enemy; the helmet, in particular, allows the charging warriors to resemble a pack of wolves. This outfit also has the added feature of carrying a few handheld gunpowder based bombs which when lit and throw causes a medium, wall-sized explosion capable of destroying stone.

Weaknesses

Usopp

Usopp GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY

Usopp has been and will always be the weakest member of the Straw Hats physically wise and thus while he qualifies as superhuman he is not able to pull off the more outlandish feats of strength the other have, also even after spending two years training he is still fairly cowardly, while not a major weakness it does keep him from fighting at his true potential.

Usopp is also a sniper first and foremost and lacks the same close combat options of the other members of the Straw Hats, this and the fact he has only so much ammunition on hand means that if he runs out he doesn't have a ton to fall back on.

Sokka

Sokka crying, ATLA | Character, Pikachu, Fictional characters

Despite his growth throughout the series Sokka's main role is to create ideas, and so is far less suited for combat that Benders or even Non-Bender's like Piandao, speaking of despite his training under Piandao and Suki he is only capable of barley contending with them as he has lost his sparing matches against both Piandao and Zuko.

Also despite being the "Idea Guy" a lot of his bigger ideas don't usually pan out and he has been outsmarted beforehand or his ideas have simply not worked.

Conclusion

This is an interesting fight, to say the least, not mainly because its close or anything like that buts interesting how a "weak" or "normal" character may be viewed outside of their universe especially given with how an author decides on what qualifies on human limitations.

Oh yeah the verdict, Usopp should win this fairly easy, goodbye.

Oh Ok, I'll go into more depth than that. First let's start on the topic that will likely matter the least in this fight given these characters' nature, strength, and durability. Now Oda has stated several times that no matter what happens in the Straw Hats crew Usopp will always be the physically weakest as he is the closet to a normal human in that regard so unlike a lot of the Straw Hats we can't really compare Usopp to other members of the Crew post-time-skip, but Usopp still has plenty of feats of his own that'd make him superhumanly strong, such as drawing blood from Kuro with a single punch, defeating Fishman with a simple hammer, moving objects three times his size, and being able to use an impact dial without blowing himself up from the inside. Sokka himself doesn't have a ton of impressive strength feats other than cutting metal with his space sword (We'll cover that later) and destroying small slabs of stone with his club, even comparing him to other Non-Bender feats like Iroh pulling prison bars or Ty Lee that still puts Sokka at a considerable disadvantage when going up against Usopp.

Even if compare Sokka to prime Iroh physically, he'd still be unable to do any major damage to Usopp, this is mainly due to Avatar being more grounded in terms of the physicality and biology of a human character while One Piece, humans can survive shit that would make Looney Toons proud like an 8-year-old boy surviving cannons, being crushed by boulders, being stabbed, set on fire, being underwater for three days, and just loosing like ten times the amount of blood a person has.

Usopp while not having as impressive strength feats of his crewmates has PLENTY of durability feats to go off of as pretty much every fight has him get his shit kicked in. He's taken a beating from Chew who kicked through a tree a member of the Arlong pirates who did shit like this, took a point-blank explosion and was then crushed under 11 tons falling from around fifty feet, was smashed through a wall, hit by several bombs, and was then hit by a 4-ton bat, took hits from Luffy who even at the time could move hundreds of tons, was set on fire and was crushed by Oars.

Keep in mind every durability feat I just listed not only did Usopp survived and remained conscious to finish the fight but all of these were before the time-skip was he was significantly weaker than after his training with Hercules, Usopp should also be comparable to weak-joke characters like Buggy who had managed to survive his own Muggy Ball which has a city-level worth of destruction considering its able to damage the animals in Impel Down.

As for Avatar, well there durability is a bit more realistic, as for one Bending does not equal physicality meaning they can't really take as good as they can get, and so Benders are very rarely able to dish out their greatest attacks not to mention that in Bending fights Bender very rarely gets up after receiving a solid hit, they usually rely on Bending shields or just avoiding the attack all together so we also can't scale bending to durability even the Avatar can be defeated and even killed by Benders much weaker then themselves, Aang WOULD of died from Azula's lighting if Katara had not had the special Northern Water Tribe Healing Water.

Speed is another category Usopp rather easily takes rather easily as similar to durability, he has quite a few feats such as dodging point-blank explosionsjumping a building despite having pretty much every bone in his body broken at the moment and evading several of Enel's lightning attack (NOTE This IS natural lighting as Devil Fruits turn their user into the exact element, and Enel's Lighting came from a thundercloud).

Sokka doesn't have a ton of speed to go off of other than evading blasts from Firebenders and (Somewhat) keeping up with Mai and Ty Lee, even if we compared Sokka to characters like Aang, Iroh, and Zuko who had reacted to lighting and lighting bending (Which we really shouldn't and those lighting feats are iffy as well), Usopp is still considerably faster himself, not to mention he's able to tag people much faster then himself with relativistic speeds.

But this fight likely won't simply come down to brute force giving these characters fighting nature rather it comes down to their weaponry and intelligence.

In terms of weapons Sokka's best weapons on hand are his Space Sword, Club, and Boomerang giving weapons to fight up close with while Usopp prefers to fight at a distance with his slingshots meaning this is short vs long-range fight, unfortunately for Sokka, he's quite outclassed here.

While the Space Sword certainly sounds impressive and with it Sokka has shown to cut through metal with relative ease, this isn't anything Usopp can't deal with, in fact in a lot of ways this is Usopps ideal fight.

Not only does Usopp have far more options to pull from in terms of weapons and equipment but its often far more powerful then what Sokka is used to, in terms of power its unlikely Sokka could survive Gunpowder Stars, Flame Star, Atlas Star, or Fire Bird Star, Sokka would also have a hard time getting around the Oil Star, Sticky Star, or Shuriken Stars, while Egg Stars, Smoke Stars, and Tabasco Stars would mess with his senses while the Catcus Ball Star woud explode if Sokka tried to deflect it.

Pop Greens just make this even worse for Sokka as many of them are far more powerful then stars while usually having a secondary effect like how Devil would restain Sokka's movements, or how Impact Wolf creates a stunning shockwave or the many AoE attacks they provide like the bamboo sprouting from the ground or the massive explosions.

Usopp also has several options other than his projectiles to keep Sokka at bay like his caltrops, oil, or the blazing ball.

But even if Sokka does manage to avoid all of that Usopp can still likely deal with Sokka at a close range with the Ussop Hammer and the dials he has on hand, which can be used to blind Sokka or the Impact Dials which would completely destroy his body.

But even with all that in mind it's not like those aren't what Sokka is known for, it's his idea, so could Sokka out-smart Usopp?

Likely not.

While rewatching Avatar I was actually surprised how few of Sokka's ideas actually succeed in the grand scope of things, he often overlooks major factors in a scenario even with preemptive planning such as on the Day of the Black Sun where he failed to plan for a contingency plan in case they were aware of the invasion, also other plans like his idea to stop drill didn't actually work where he thought all they needed to do was to destroy a single of the pillars upholding the machine, it was actually Aang who discovered how to destroy the drill, not to mention many of these plans Sokka had time to think of an idea, in the heat of the moment the most we have seen him do in a fight was blind Piandao with dirt and cut down bamboo trees to obscure his vision and even then Piandao rather easily won.

In comparison more of Usopp's plans and strategies in a fight had worked out more often, in his first fight with Chew he managed to trick him into playing dead before quickly running away so he could dowse him in alcohol then set him on fire with the Flame Star, against Mr 5, Miss Goldenweek, and Mr 3 he figured out how to successfully free Luffy and the other Straw Hats, against Mr 4 and Miss Merry Christmas he was able to use Chopper's horn to mak his slingshot much more powerful, against Luffy he preemptively hit him with a rotten egg so he wouldn't be able to tell there was flammable gas building up for Ussop to use, against Perona he managed to counter each of her ghosts as well as make her think he was monstrously strong, against Daruma he used his usage of the environment against him, and against Sugar he knew how to trigger her team to make her faint.

Keep in mind the only fight Usopp lost here was against Luffy and even then despite being horribly outclassed and still recovering from his injuries Usopp still managed to hold a significant advantage against Luffy for most of the fight.

As for other minor factors in this fight, Sokka is a more skilled martial artist but it's unlikely he'd even be able to get in that close, the experience is kind of hard to measure because Sokka spent more time-fighting in a group and we don't know too much about his later life as of Korra so it's unlikely it'd make that much of a difference, Sokka's training was more traditional but Usopp's was much more intense and lasted for two years unlike Sokka who at most trained for a few weeks, Sokka's boomerang his only range weapon would be unable to catch Usopp by surprised because of Usopp's Haki, Usopp has better control of the environment.
